When hockey parents go too far
Hockey parents are a breed of their own. Dedicated and supportive of their children's love for the game, these parents are happy to get up before the sun on their only days off and spend part of their mornings at a chilly hockey rink, warming their hands against a hot double double and cheering on their children. These parents should be commended. They are committed — emotionally and financially — to the game and their children. They cheer the victories and console when things don't go the team's way. As with anything, there are those who take things too far. Go to any arena in Northern Ontario on the weekends and you're bound to spot some parent who vocalizes his or her distaste for a player's performance, the referee's decisions, or coaching moves.
